After more than seven days of working together, including three spacewalks and the installation of a new module, the International Space Station and shuttle crews parted ways today at 11:22 a.m. EDT.
The combined crews of shuttle Commander Ken Ham, Pilot Tony Antonelli, Mission Specialists Michael Good, Garrett Reisman, Steve Bowen and Piers Sellers, and Expedition 23 Commander Oleg Kotov and Flight Engineers Alexander Skvortsov, Tracy Caldwell Dyson, Mikhail Kornienko, Soichi Noguchi, and T.J. Creamer gathered one last time in the space station for a joint news conference. They took questions from reporters in the United States and in Tokyo, Japan.
The crews then gathered for their farewells and closed the hatches between the two spacecraft at 8:43 a.m. EDT.
Antonelli performed a flyaround of the station. The shuttle crew recorded views of the station during the 1.5 revolutions of the orbiting complex.
