NASA is going to build 2 more dish centers in Australia. These bases will be made for viewing the space and would need an investment of $100 million.
At the 2 bases, instruments which can see via infra-red and smoke cover will be installed.
The plan is fraction of a commitment that the US had made to Australia for opening up of new bases and it would be 50 years after the first base was built in Australia that this new project is coming up.
The 2 new facilities will be built at the Canberra Deep Space Communications Complex. It would take over 6 years to make them.
Talking about the plans, Dr Charles Elachi, the director of NASA said that there were no problems in deciding that NASA is going to invest in Australia. And both the countries share friendly relations and the things became simpler.
Since Australia is world famed in the field of radio astronomy, NASA is looking forward to get the best engineers and scientists, Dr Charles Elachi added.
NASA had seen drop in government aid owing to the financial crisis and this is a sign that the unit has started to come to its old self yet again.
